Something else worth mentioning is that a reasonably strong Wi-Fi connection mattered more than I expected, since even a capable phone, a weak network can still lead to stutter. Reducing other tabs running in the background during gaming seemed to drag performance down, meaning shutting them down beforehand is a small habit which makes a real difference.
